Direct-write fabrication of colloidal photonic crystal microarrays by ink-jet printing

文档简介Anarrayofthecolloidalphotoniccrystalswasdirectlyfabricatedusinganink-jetprinting.Thecolloidalinkdropletscontainingthemonodispersedpolystyrenelatexparticleswereselectivelydepositedonahydrophobicsurface.Solventevaporationfromeachinkdropletleadstoaformationofmicrodome-shapedcolloidalassemblesofclose-packedstructures.Microspectroscopicanalysishasconfirmedthattheindividualassemblyservesasaphotoniccrystalanditsopticalpropertiescanbecorrelatedwiththemicrostructuralfeatures.Unlikeothertechniquesofpatternedgrowthofcolloidalphotoniccrystal,thesubstratedoesnotneedtobepatternedfirstandnotemplateisneededinthedirectwritingbytheink-jetprinting.Usingourstrategy,wehaverapidlyproducedthecolloidalphotoniccrystalmicroarrayscomposedofdifferent-sizedspheresaddressablypatternedonthesamesubstrate.
